VR Room Escape Game featuring the Tomb of Tutankhamun
Background
During my internship at Eon Reality, I worked with a group and developed this immersive VR Room Escape Game featuring the mysterious Egyptian tomb - Tutankhamun Tomb, whose layout is shown below in Figure 1.
Working Process
Modeling. We use 3ds Max, ZBrush and Blender to model the artifacts and objects inside the tomb, aiming to recreate the appearance of the tomb as realistically as possible. (shown in Figure 2-4)
Programming. We leveraged Unity C# api to design the game logic and connect our game to a VR helmet. Figure 5 shows a player wearing the helmet wandering the tomb and trying to escape.
Summary
I have always been interested in computer graphics and AVR (Augmented Virtual Reality), so I didn’t hesitate to participate in this VR game development project. Throughout the project, I gained insights into the practical process of VR application development and also discovered some drawbacks of current VR technology, such as compromised rendering quality for real-time performance and the bulky and inflexible nature of VR devices. In my future studies, I aspire to delve deeper into computer graphics, enhance rendering quality in graphics applications, and contribute to the advancement of lightweight, accessible VR and similar graphical display devices.
